Abstract: This book addresses international trade and policy issues concerning agricultural biotechnology. The 16 chapters in this volume are edited and revised versions of papers presented at the 8th International Conference of the International Consortium on Agricultural Biotechnology Research, held in Ravello, Italy, on 8-11 July 2004. Part I includes four chapters with an analytical focus. They deal with the issues of risk, monopoly pricing, direct trade, and labelling. The two chapters in part II are empirical trade studies. Part III includes four chapters. The first addresses the question of coexistence of GM crops and organic crops. Two chapters address spillovers. The fourth addresses regulations and innovations. Part IV includes three chapters addressing issues associated with intellectual property rights. Part V includes three chapters that use applied (or computable) general equilibrium models to evaluate policy impacts. The book has a subject index.
